Congratulations on being chosen as a Provost Impact Award recipient. We are excited to highlight your work at the Confluence Symposium on April 16, 2025 (5 p.m. at Clark-Fox Forum).
- We will showcase your research through a three-minute presentation using the style of the 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) and will feature one static Powerpoint slide.
- We ask that you present with your community partner, and you are welcome to have other collaborators on stage with you for the presentation.
- Karen Bland (karenbland@wustl.edu and Sterling Higdon (s.higdon@wustledu) are available should you have any questions about the presentation.
Next Steps
- Email karenbland@wustl.edu and s.higdon@wustledu to confirm your list of presenters.
- Prepare a single powerpoint slide for use in your presentation. Please send us the slide by April 1, 2025 to Confluence@wustl.edu.
- Review the 2023 Confluence Award videos for inspiration or the Research Excellence Showcase video (at 11:40).
- Register to attend the event (invitation will be sent the week of February 17) and please share the registration link with your academic and community partners.
Preparing for your Presentation
- WHAT: Provide enough background on your research so that anyone in the audience can understand your work.
- WHO and HOW: Whose life changes as a result of your research efforts? Can you give your research a “face” and tell the story of one individual? How does the life/lives of those impacted by your research change?
- WHERE AND WHY: Why is it important that your research originates at WashU and/or in St. Louis? Why is our region positioned to benefit from your research? Why here vs. anywhere else?
- COMMUNITY ENGAGED RESEARCH: Please touch upon your methodology for engaging community partners in your research. Please consider including your community partner(s) in your recording.
Slide Preparation
- See the image below. We will be recording your live presentation (as it will be made available online following the event) – this is an example of how your video will appear to an online audience following the event.
- Please use a blank white slide as your template. (We will add in the WashU branding and stylize the font to make all of the slides work well together.)
